I'm living my dream everyday.
My favourite childhood treats | Monday, June 6, 2011 @ 7:40 PM

I snapped a photo of a melt-in-my-mouth candy roll that is lying on my desk and ended up being hit by nostalgia. So, let's take a walk down memory lane tonight. For old time's sake, I've compiled a list of 20 of my favourite treats that bring back wonderful memories of my blessed childhood days :)

To date, I still enjoy eating these bite-sized rainbow icing biscuits :)

I discovered my love for chocolate wafer sticks at my primary's school canteen, where they were sold dirt cheap.

No kid should ever be denied a savoury rice cracker!!! I'll never get sick of this snack.

I remember heading to 7eleven before and sometimes even during a church service with my sister to grab candymix. I'm lucky to have all of my teeth intact after consuming so much of these sugary strawberry belts in my younger days.

Again, I discovered these quick sugar fixes at the candymix stand in 7eleven. I preferred the sugar-coated coca cola gummies :)

Paddle pop icecream and split icecream were my childhood favourites! Every child should be given an opportunity to have an icecream on a stick, which will train him/her not to run around while eating. Don't spoil your child with expensive icecream (ben&jerry's, italian gelato and the like) all the time when you become a parent!

I loveeeeeed chewing on these 10cs-a-packet seaweed. Actually, I still enjoy eating seaweed now. J brought over two huge packets of seaweed for me :) Again, I believe that kids should be fed this before they try tae kae noi seaweed, which is really delicious but wallet-unfriendly. I want my kids to learn how to appreciate the simple pleasures in life before indulging them in the guiltier pleasures :p

This photo is missing my favourite marshmallow bits! Did anyone else enjoy eating the alphabets cereal with marshmallow bits too? Sadly, I can't seem to find the packaging in the supermarkets back home...I've been searching for years but to no avail.

I used to trouble my sister to make a trip down to the nearby 7eleven outlet from our previous place to fix my hershey's cravings!!! Hershey's cookies 'n' creme was once synonymous with evening church service.

I seem to have a thing for watermelon-flavoured candies, which applies to rock candy and chewing gum too!

I don't know which got my attention first: chocolate or toy?

M&M's is a timeless treat.

Most of my childhood snacking habits were largely influenced by my sister. I guess I really looked up to her as a kid :p When she started eating Twisties, I followed suit. After she discovered her love for Calbee's hot&spicy chips, I switched to Calbee's chips too. Twisties was one of my favourite snacks to munch on during the bus rides home from school.

Apollo chocolate wafer biscuit in its striking red packaging was an inexpensive yet satisfying treat for me. Many of my teachers in primary school would give this snack to us during Children's Day!

As a child, I was amazed by its brilliant packaging :D Just like the cheese-and-crackers snack where you can spread the cheese on the crackers as you fancy, I was really intrigued...Can't find a photo of the latter but I guess I was sold by the idea of snacking on something in a cooler fashion than others. LOL

Apart from seaweed, this must be the only other healthy snack that I liked!

Hehe, the japanese characters above the Pocky logo reads "ichigo", which translates directly to strawberry. Random: Apple is called "ringo" in Japanese!

Whenever my Dad acceded to my request to stop by Macky's Drive-Thru on the way home from school when I was in P5 &P6, I would feel like a million bucks!!! $_$ Hot fudge sundaeeeeee...I could do with one now.

Chocolate chip cookies from Famous Amos used to be one of the rarer "luxury" treats from my mom.

Kudos to the marketing brains behind Pringles for coming up with one of the most well-known taglines that can be easily recalled by both the young and old: O.Y.P.Y.C.S :D Sour cream & onion ♥

I miss being a kid.

After I publish this entry, I'm gonna reflect on how I've managed to get nothing done since my evening nap, apart from preparing and consuming my dinner...

Hope this entry lifts your mood, wherever you are and whatever you're doing now :)
