I'm living my dream everyday.
THE APPLE OF MY EYE | Friday, August 5, 2011 @ 6:57 PM
Chai: Hey neo! Quick, take a photo of this!
Neo: Don't want...
Chai: But this is an Aussie apple!
:D :D :D
Hiiiii guys!
I've been trying to set aside some time to update this space. It's been over a week since I returned to Melbourne and I'm done with the first two weeks of my final academic semester. Yes, the countdown has begun! Apart from attending my classes as per normal, I'm absolutely guilty of slacking off. I spent the first few days in an absolutely sloth-like mode, with my mind bent on finishing a marathon, that is my TVB drama marathon. Kudos to TVB scriptwriters! Moonlight Resonance (Heart of Greed) is definitely one of the best family-themed dramas I've ever watched. It tugged at my heartstrings and moved me to tears on many occasions.
Gonna sidetrack a little here.
I used to follow Glee but I couldn't keep up with all that drama (pun intended) and I stopped after a few episodes into S2. Don't get me wrong. I have heaps of admiration for the multi-talented Glee cast and their brilliant remixes. However, it was difficult to relate what I watched on Glee with my personal life experiences. On the other hand, TVB dramas underline and reinforce the important values that we should possess to be happy/ achieve contentment/ live life to the fullest etc. Somehow, TVB dramas are likelier to offer its viewers a slice of life as compared to American dramas (too much sex and all that jazz).
Granted, American dramas have impressive, high-end fashion wardrobe sets for their casts. Although HK has yet to cement its status as one of the world's fashion capitals, it is fast becoming one of the to-go countries for shopping (think all the Singaporeans and foreigners who flock there to shop). TVB stars aren't clad in dirty old rags. They are dressed in elaborate costumes -with embellishments that threaten to blind- in period dramas, and look the part for the roles that they're cast in.
A final point to make: Hot actors and actresses exist in Asia too! Yes I know, Chace Crawford is the epitome of hotness. Blake Lively has to-die-for pins and great hair. Well, take a look at...
Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Kevin Cheng, and Ron Ng
Linda Chung, Tavia Yuen, Shirley Yeung, and Charmaine Sheh
(Okay, the faces pictured above are my personal favourites with both style and substance)
I wish that more Singaporeans will give TVB dramas a chance. Don't dismiss Asian dramas just because of the raging American drama fever or your inadequacy in comprehending Mandarin/Canto. For me, it started not too long ago with an out-of-the-blue inspiration to speak better Cantonese. Most importantly, don't be a drama snob and turn your noses up at Asian dramas. White supremacy is so yesterday.

Currently, Neo and Sandra are here on a holiday and I am putting them up at my place. Honestly speaking, it's really tiring to juggle the role of a tour guide and a student. However, I can't deny that I do enjoy myself when I'm out with them. I feel a little guilty that I've not exactly been the most patient tour guide but I hope that the girls are having a fun time anyhow! Sigh, it seems that I become a really temperamental person when I'm in Melbourne.
Here are photos of the first two days when I brought them out :)
If you're a tourist visiting Melbourne for the first time, I say be adventurous and venture into the suburbs, say Carnegie! You'll be rewarded with oh-so-awesome toasted bagels, served with delightful fillings of your fancy :) Hehe, I'm always more than willing to bring interested friends to dine here!
If you happen to be a friend in Melbourne who is reading this, do try their Autumn breakie bagel special that comes in a combination of ham, cheese and beetroot!
My HBF is oh-so-sneaky and we both share one thing in common: OUR OVERFLOWING LOVE FOR LITTLE CHILDREN :)
For any interested foodies, Huff Bagelry is located a stone's throw away from Carnegie station.
This is such a cute photo of them!
IGLOO ZOO
It took them a few spoonfuls before they found an appreciation for my favourite cocoa froyo.
Thanks for the yummy muffins girls! :D

I brought this pair of sisters to have bagels before Xingting headed back to Singapore. It's not everyday you get to hang out with two gorgeous sisters at the same time!

Sigh, I forgot to bring my Polaroid back for my graduation ceremony in Dec!

SIX GIRLS ON AN IMPOSSIBLE MISSION @ SOFIA'S

Sofia's mint cake was quite disappointing, to say the least.

This is such a beautiful photo and I wanna dedicate it to a special girlfriend
whom I share great chemistry with, and the same ending to our last names. Likewise, I feel the same way about us :) I'm looking forward to our next foodie date, whether in Singapore, London or Melbourne in 2011/2012. You're a friend for keeps, my dearest Lingy! :)

Don't you feel like pinching this pair of baby-like cheeeeeks?
What's a holiday without retail therapy, right?
MY TWEET OF THE DAY

In the meantime, it's one final weekend of fun before life returns to normalcy and moves at a slower pace. I've been having one too many sinful meals with the girls and I think this excessive indulgence is showing on my face and waist :( Just finished a bag of chips for dinner tonight because I was too lazy to cook. Oh well, I shall embark on a healthier lifestyle next week. Can't wait for the arrival of spring so that I can find the motivation to exercise! One more month, hopefully.
Heaps of love to all my old friends who care!
God bless all and have a wonderful weekend!
LOVE, CHAI
