I'm living my dream everyday.
Be us against the world | Tuesday, January 17, 2012 @ 12:28 PM

 Hiiiii guys!

Suffice to say, this is probably the best time of my life (I think I've mentioned it on my blog after I finished my final exam in uni)!

So basically, I've been catching up with old friends and spending quality time with my family, J and his family :) Spending quality time with my family and J's family entails a lot of feasting...Well, I'm trying to keep one of my NY resolutions, that is to exercise at least twice a week :)

First family reunion meal on 16th December 2011!

This is the best version of SAMBAL KANGKONG I've ever had! :)

My 22nd birthday dinner celebration with my family :)

I love how everyone in my family will take time out of their busy schedules to gather for a nice meal. Come rain or shine, everyone in my family will be present to celebrate someone's special day. I love this family tradition we have -that has never been broken, save for the time I was studying overseas- and I'm glad that J's family shares the same tradition too! Traditions are the glue that holds a family together through the good and bad times, and I hope to continue this tradition when I start my own family.

I won't shy away from the fact that I'm a diehard fan of Sushi Tei. I love being boring in this sense, though I try to instill a little sense of adventure by ordering a different main/side dish each time I dine at ST :) As recommended by Hea, these garlic wine clams are yummy!

Caught up with my three beauties before 2011 was over! Let's celebrate each other's birthday from now on! SOUNDS GOOD?

Christmas at Chewy's

I love gourmet popcorns, though it doesn't necessarily have to be Garrett's (my favourite!!!).
J's mom roasted a huge turkey for the Christmas barbeque :)

Milo is really getting on in years :(
Chewy was playing with fire with his brothers...

Boxing day dinner with my two favourite Js in the world :)

Watami has really value-for-money set meals!
Everything that is pictured here was part of our set dinner which cost approximately $70, and they allow you to customise your own set meal with various options for the main courses and side dishes.

This spicy popiah roll was soooo good. My mom bought it for me when I accompanied her to the DVD rental shop at...Bedok (!!) Yes, my mom travels all the way to Bedok to rent DVDs. Having lived in the West for all my life, I love being a westsider!!! In fact, I have shortlisted the ideal locations for my future home: Tiong Bahru, Holland V, or Clementi! Love the first two locations for its proximity to the city!

We celebrated Ang's birthday at Antoniette! Hehe, I will blog about it soon :)
I'm in love with this photo of us because Neo looks so...CUTE.

NYE's potluck lunch at Heather's

It was my first encounter with Charlie boy!!! Boy is he a handsome pooch :)

Mao's delicious sukiyaki!

Chewy's chinese wine chicken

I was supposed to prepare bruschetta but changed my mind, no thanks to my laziness! So I ended up buying the chicken and blueberries (to feed the chef before he toiled in the kitchen). Smart?

Spent my final moments of 2011 with J and his family :)
I love sipping tea whenever I'm over at his place. His mom sparked my interest in fruity teas and I've never looked back since :)

Hope you're sleeping and eating well in Melb babe :)

Long gang mei!

No words to describe what craziness does to people...

CHINATOWN
Hea & I had a lunch date at Maxwell market!

Pity Charlie boy wasn't looking at the camera!

So handsome, right? :)

One of the rare times my Mom cooks for me... I've got my lazy genes from her.

Dinner with Genn & Lucy, who are big fans of Sushi Tei too. Hahahaha

Under xy's recommendation, J & I had the ipoh hor fun at HV! We only had to top up $2.50 for the dumpling soup and a homemade barley drink :) Their fried bean sprouts with silverfish dish is just as yummy too! Next up, I wanna try the laksa and nasi lemak next door :)

I've been reading my backdated magazines diligently!!! Although I was living overseas, the magazines kept arriving in my mail every month because of my subscriptions and there was a huge pile of magazines that greeted me after I returned home. No joke!!!
POPCORNS ARE THE NEW POTATO CHIPS :D

Found time to gym with Ang on two occasions in the new year too :)
I love all our nonsense talks at the gym!

My romantic stroll with Ang along the most popular touristy spot in Singapore :)

Brunch at Rider's Cafe with Heather :)

Omg ugliest chai latte art ever!
Love my skinny chai latte with honey :) I requested for honey to go along with the chai latte It's a healthier replacement option for sugar. In Melbourne, they'd serve honey together with it! However, it's not a norm in Singapore...

This is definitely one of the best risotto dishes I've ever had!!! Saffron risotto with pan-fried scallops :) Definitely a must-try!

We ordered one of their specials, which wasn't too bad though not fantastic...TLT burger, something with turkey as its main ingredient.

Strawberry mess
This was quite good though I'd strongly recommend their Death by Chocolate cake if you're a chocolate lover!!! To date, it's still one of the nicest (and most ge-lat) chocolate desserts I've had :) It's a huge slab of chocolate goodness! Even Chewy will love it! Thank goodness J loves chocolatey desserts!

Here's an old photo of the Death by Chocolate cake that Neo & I shared on her early 21st birthday celebration at Rider's.
IT. LOOKS. SO. INVITING.

Random weekday dinner date with Chewy

J made me try SHIRAKO (pictured at the bottom right corner of the photo above). Well, it tasted like... I can't really put my finger on its taste because I was grossed out by the fact that I was eating the sperm sacs of a male codfish, so much so that I chewed quickly on it and swallowed it in a flash. Ha ha ha

Lunch with my little sister at Sun with Moon :)

Easy mac for supper :) I love Kraft's food products!

I decided to cut myself some slack (after watching my diet prior to the interview) and went a little overboard with snacking last Friday, which ended on a cheesy note :) Haha, I went to bed feeling guilty and ruined neo's plan of running to the park...by making her run with me at the reservoir the next morning. I love my sporty hairy twin!

Last weekend, I had brunch at Five & Dime eatery with Leefy and Mat, who were my colleagues at Style :)

Leefy's friend opened this restaurant recently and I gotta give it to the brains behind the interior design! Lovely ambience. It's like a hidden treasure at the outskirt of the city.

If you're looking to visit a brunch haunt while avoiding the crowds, here's the address:
297 River Valley Road
(Best to visit before this restaurant becomes a household name!)

Eggs florentine...
I loved the potato & bacon side dish, though I'm not a fan of fried bacon.

Eggs benny with wagyu beef :)

Best colleagues an intern could ask for!

The weather has been so hot lately!!! Well, everyone has been complaining about it and myself alike.
We waited so long for the bus and lost our patience so we hopped into a passing cab.Waiting = camwhore, cabbing = camwhore :D

Later in the evening, we had dinner with his parents at RV and tried Swirl Art's froyo for the first time. Omg, their taro froyo is really yummy!!! I liked their peach and chocolate flavours too. I hardly have froyo these days anymore! Time to get back to my froyo-eating habits :)
Ang, shall we? :D

Chewy bullying Junior...

Lunch at Chin Chin with J's family on Sunday! I love the food here!!!
In Melbourne, there's a famous restaurant that goes by the exact same name too!
Anyway, this is a Hainanese restaurant (with an air-conditioned coffee shop-like setting) near City Hall. Chewy's Dad is a Hainanese...

After lunch, J & I went shopping in town! I chose this leather jacket for him.
Zara is having a great sale atm! :)

After shopping, we explored the CNY fair at Taka and indulged in a shameless activity aka free food sampling ;) Also, we checked out the new candy store (every shop that popped up during the time I was away is new to me) and...indulged in my favourite activity.

YEP THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ACTIVITY THAT DOESN"T HARM MY WALLET :)

It's Chewy's 23rd birthday tomorrow and we're gonna have one of the best buffets in Singapore! Hope we wouldn't be let down by our sky-high expectations :) Buffets are very value-for-money for huge eaters like Justin and myself!!! He will devour all the expensive raw and meat dishes, leaving little space for desserts, while I'll do the former and mass-attack all the desserts at the end of it. I think I usually commit a greater sin at a buffet because of my sweet tooth :p

We both have grand plans to exercise in the morning to whet our appetites for the buffet! Ha ha ha, we are your typical greedy Singaporeans, and I'm sure we'll linger around until the end of the buffet.

Oh yes, owning a credit card that offers me many dining privileges is definitely one of the things that I look forward to after I start working!

Sigh...It's back to spring cleaning!

Love, Serene
