I'm living my dream everyday.
Graduation Part II | Wednesday, January 4, 2012 @ 12:02 PM

The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams.

Two years flew by in the blink of an eye. Where has the time gone? Perhaps, in retrospect, I should have counted the moments, and not the months while studying overseas. Anybody who has been following my blog in the past two years would have probably gotten a hint of my pressing desire to graduate and return home for good. Despite adopting an optimistic tone in my blog entries, I must admit that more often than not, it was easier said -or rather written- than done to remain optimistic. I wanted badly to be back in my homeland, where I knew many bus routes and mobile numbers by heart. I missed being surrounded by familiar faces of friends whom I've grown up with.

Graduation day saw my heart racing and I too, was swept up in the emotions that ran high throughout campus. It was a day to celebrate the success of every graduand who soldiered on through tough times. Needless to say, the ceremony was spectacular and awe-inspiring. It felt surreal to be seated in an auditorium hall packed with other fellow graduates, with the knowledge that every late night spent on tedious researching, writing and editing; and all my last-minute mugging efforts have finally paid off. I won't be missing those boring afternoons spent holed up in a library cubicle, and walking home from school on a cold and windy evening.

To my dearest friends who are looking forward to their convocation day, may you be blessed and encouraged with a wise quote from Aristotle: The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet. Whenever you're overwhelmed by negative thoughts, don't forget to pause and reflect on how far you've come! It worked for me because I knew that I was not about to throw in the towel when I've endured so many mental and emotional sufferings, courtesy of assignments dished out by my tutors no less...

Although this milestone event has passed, I'll bear in mind that learning is a lifelong journey ;)

Now, on to more frivolous ramblings...

Chewy bought for me a big graduation bear!
It looks so silly and nerdy (in a cute way)...so much so that I think it's impossible not to smile when you cuddle it.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't have my best and closest friends present to celebrate this special occasion with me. Anyhow, I felt the love!  A special thank you shoutout to Ang & Neo for the cute graduation bear and handwritten letters. No doubt that you guys were absent on my graduation day, I felt your presence in spirit!

Thanks for dropping by with a bouquet of flower, Belle! :)

Saki dropped by the campus to snap a few photos with me too!

My cupcake showed up before the ceremony too!

Japanese students with the Japanese native ;)

Noticed the nicely edited lomo-like photo effects in some of the photos? They were snapped and edited by Gary (pictured in the photos below)l

Glad to have met you guys in Monash! I'm missing Eric's and Malcolm's faces in my photos.

Chewy was givng me a bored stiff expression half the time...J, you should know what kinda expression I'll be wearing on your graduation day ;)

And of course, I'll make sure you'll have many photos with the rear end of your graduation bear...

My joker boyfriend was so easily amused...

Nevertheless, I appreciate him for sacrificing a month of his summer break in Singapore to accompany me and attend my graduation ceremony :)

My jie was being a patient photographer throughout the afternoon :)

And so was Daddykins :D
