I'm living my dream everyday.
BRUNCH HAUNTS | Tuesday, May 29, 2012 @ 3:07 PM
Hiiiiii guys :)
I guess it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of brunch.
Well, I've been dining at many interesting brunch joints since I returned home for good. I still can't believe that it has been half a year since I graduated! Fast forward to another half a year later and I'll no longer be a P crew. Heh, I love to look forward in life because there are indeed so many things to look forward to! I don't know about you but I try to start each morning with a positive thought.
Later in the evening, I'll be flying to BOLLYWOOD TOWN! Any guesses? It's Mumbai, alright! It'll be my first visit to India and I'm actually pretty excited about it. I get excited by the simplest of things in life, which I'd like to think of it as a good thing ;)
P.S CAFE
Two weekends ago, I met vivi for brunch at its Palais Renaissance outlet. I've always been a fan of their desserts, namely because they're rich in flavour and huge in portion. Quality + quantity = pure satisfaction :)
This must be the healthiest shot of an eggs benny dish that has ever seen the face of Earth :/
Heh, I was in a hurry to dig in so I didn't have the common sense to shove the greens to the side of the plate for a more "tasteful" (in every sense of the word) shot. Anyway, this was quite good and way better than the eggs benny at Toby's Estate.
Heaps of love for their beef lasagne!
It's really, really, really delicious. You gotta try this if you haven't already done so :)
Apple Galatte
Viv's all-time favourite dessert at P.S and it's only available at its Palais outlet.
This was really, really, really good! Best of all, it didn't even feel sinful. Haha, a sinful dessert has taken on a new meaning in my opinion after indulging in one too many fat cakes.
Post-graduation celebration with Rach & Cyn a week ago at my FAVOURITE all-day breakfast haunt! It was a night of girly and frivolous talks for us. I first learnt of this place when my Dad parked his car outside the restaurant on the evening we celebrated Mother's Day at a nearby restaurant...At first glance, Club Street Social might seem like it specialises in cocktails and liquors rather than food - at least this was my first impression of it. However, Brad convinced me otherwise and it so happened that we girls couldn't dine at P.S because the restaurant was close last Monday night...we ended up at Club Street Social :)
---
I really <3 the ambience when we dined there on a Monday night. Think soothing music in the background, accompanied with soft chatters (due to the low profile of this restaurant atm) from a few other patrons...It is definitely a perfect place to unwind after a long day at work, if you don't mind having breakfast for dinner :)
Rachel & I! She's the best thing that happened to me during my training days at STC.

Scrambled eggs with fontina (Italian cow's milk cheese) and chives, (with portobello mushroom-add-on)
This is the best scrambled eggs I've ever had in my entire existence :) It's a MUST-TRY!
Oh, Brad was the one who raved about this dish and true to his words, it didn't disappoint.

Sopressata (salami), gorgonzala (Italian blue cheese) with roast tomato (melt-in-your-mouth!)
I'm not a fan of salami (J, you'll love this!) but I do like cheese and tomato so overall, it was quite good.

Confit duck, roast portobello and balsamic onions panini (with bacon streaks - add on)
I personally <3 this dish too!!! The bread was great in texture and perfect when paired together with the balsamic onions :)
Proscuitto, mozarella, tomato and truffle mayo panini
Although I'm not a fan of cured meat, the melted mozarella cheese was so good!

Lemon tart
I guess once you've had the best lemon tart (from PAUL'S), everything else pretty much pales in comparison...

Nutella bread pudding with a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream
DOLLOP? Haha, I wish we were served a bigger scoop of ice cream instead!

All in all, we enjoyed our carbo-loading fest that night :) Haven't seen the girls for a week and I hope that everyone is doing well in the skies! <3

Last weekend, I brought Ang to Club Street Social for brunch!

Lobster bisque
I was expecting the broth to be creamier...It was really rich in flavour though a little on the salty side. We enjoyed it after a few spoonful... I guess it's an acquired taste?
Duck rillette, green apple and fig compote crostini
This was quite good though the I'd prefer the previous duck panini dish to this because I prefer my duck in chunkier pieces and not minced.

Roast chicken, tomato and coriander pesto panini
I was a little puzzled as to why the panini bread wasn't cut into finer slices (as pictured above when I went there for dinner previously). Anyway, this is definitely a safe bet :)

Pork cheeks with pumpkin mash and scallions.... This was sooooo good and definitely my favourite dish of the day! This dish isn't listed in the menu so keep your eyes peered open before you enter the restaurant ;)

The friend in my
adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who
helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready
to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity.
Ulysses S. Grant

After brunch, Ang and I made our way to attend Ettusais' 20th birthday party.
I've been using their products for half a year and I really love them! As a lazy person who doesn't go through the three-step (cleanse, tone and moisture) regime twice a day, I'd have to thank their products for maintaining the current condition of my skin. And of course, Laneige sleeping pack. It's a miracle if I even use moisturiser in my skincare regime...But of course, my bad skincare habits will have to change soon. It's just a matter of time when I'll stop procrastinating...

P.S If you're a fan of Chai latte like me, I have a piece of good news for you! To date, the most decent version of Chai latte that I've had in Singapore was from Coffee Bean ;) Says who the beverages at Starbucks trump Coffee Bean's? I can vouch against this! Granted, I really like the green tea latte & java chip frap from Starbucks but I guess it still has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to their desserts, which really pale in comparison to Coffee Bean's dessert line. There's a reason why Coffee Bean still remains a key competitor of SB...Don't be too quick to write it off just because it is the lesser-known favourite among many :)
Okieeee dokie.
Will be back with BRUNCH HAUNTS PART II soon!
Gotta start prepping my face for work.
Have a great week ahead guys!
Love, Serene
