I'm living my dream everyday.
Friends are gems | Thursday, April 5, 2012 @ 11:06 PM

"There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature."
Jane Austen
Befriending a person is easy peasy. Growing a friendship is the real challenge.
For as long as I can remember, I've always been open to the idea of making new friends. However, maintaining old friendships has taken priority over forging new ones. I find it an uphill task to keep everyone -who is close to my heart- close to me, especially after I've started working. I'm aware that this is part and parcel of growing up, that is making new friends and letting old friends out of my sight...
If I could schedule a mass meetup session with every precious friend (especially those whom I haven't met in months), I would. There is only one of me, and THAT much amount of free time I have to schedule meetings.
Sigh, there are some old friends whom I miss dearly, and I hope that they know who they are.

On a different note, I dislike it when people are oblivious to how insensitive they are with their words. It is fine to crack jokes but it's a fine line between a humourous joke and a distasteful joke. I'm personally attracted to people who are willing to make themselves the butt of a joke so as to put a smile on everyone's face. It's more fun laughing at yourself and getting others to laugh with you as compared to laughing AT others.
At the end of the day, it boils down to one's level of maturity. I have a lot to learn when it comes to behaving like a matured adult but I know the value of words, and I know not to undermine their value. Kind words can make a person's day. On the other hand, careless words can ruin a friendship or someone's opinion of you. Do yourself and the people around you a huge favour and think before you speak.

I'm stoked about the long weekend! Lotsa girly company to look forward to :)
Me-time is always so therapeutic...I hope to set aside some time this weekend with me, myself and I :)

Introducting to everyone my favourite carrot cake in the world: Cedele's carrot cake :)
To date, I haven't come across a cake from Cedele that left me disappointed. I like their strawberry tart and pistachio cake too! Hope to visit their outlet soon to try more of their fat cakes :)

P.S. Cedele's carrot cake > Marmalade Pantry's carrot cake hands down! This goes to show that $$$ doesn't necessarily guarantee you the best quality.
Please give their desserts a try if you haven't had a chance to. You won't regret it!
HAPPY EASTER DEARIES!
Love, Serene
