I'm living my dream everyday.

Hiiiiii guys!

In exactly three months' time, and perhaps at this time, I'd be strolling out of the arrival hall at Changi Airport with my loved ones. Looking forward to a sweet ending to this chapter of my life :) Singapore, wait for me! I'm coming home...32 more hours of classes and I'm done for f'king ever! Hehe, pardon the swearing. I must be the only doofus who is counting down to the end of my academic journey.

Earlier today, I was chatting with my mom over the phone, "Mom, I'm really damn sick of studying! Four more weeks of classes and I'm done! I really want to go home. Nothing beats home! I'm don't want to rack my brains over academic matters for the next two years! I want to be an air stewardess so that I can entertain frivolous issues at work!" My mom laughed and once again, expressed her unwavering support for my dream :)

Today, a classmate asked me what my plans were after graduation. Of course, the faithful Singaporean in me replied, "I'm going back to Singapore for good!" Thereafter, she asked me if I'd look for a job. I expressed my desire to live out of a suitcase. Almost immediately, she responded, "Huh? Then why are you studying?"

Honestly, I hate it when people highlight to me that I'll be "over-qualified", should I become an air stewardess. Can people not be too quick to judge? Is there anything wrong in wanting to be an air stewardess? Isn't it time to broaden your perspectives and be more open-minded in this modern era? Being an air stewardess is nothing shameful a profession. It is a profession, and not just a mere brainless occupation. It requires a lot of patience, communication skills, and product knowledge etc.

It really irks me when someone makes this profession sound so undesirable. For starters, not every girl can serve on a flight. You need to be able to be of a minimum height to reach the cabin top. Throw in a good poise, great interpersonal communication skills, speech eloquence, positive deameanour and a whole lot of other admirable traits....You get your SQ girl. There is a myriad of factors that will determine one's suitability for this profession. Granted, there are many who started flying after they received their diploma/A'level cert/O'level certs. What about those who chose to fly after completing their university education? Why doesn't anyone use them as a positive example? I feel compelled to stand up for respectable and decent girls who are in this line of profession, though I may or may not join them in the near future.

It is beyond me that people would think of an SQ girl as someone who chose to cut short her education journey. If God decides to let me live my dream, I'll be a proud advocate of the ANTI-MILE HIGH CLUB. No sleazy business on the plane, no butchering of the prim and proper SQ girl image, no heavy obsession with material things, and so forth. Just sayin'. If you're a good friend, you should know that it has always been my dream to don on the kebaya outfit. The least you can do is to show some basic respect to me. How would you like it if someone scoffs at your dream before you even attempt to achieve it?

That said, I'd jump at an opportunity to be a beauty writer if I manage to find a job opening after graduation. I'm really interested to explore the world of makeup. Combine a keen interest in this field with my writing passion, I'm already in love with the idea of me as a beauty writer. Yeah, coming from a girl who knows nuts about drawing her upper eyelids and wearing fake eyelashes. Anyway, beauty encompasses makeup, skincare, and body wellness, all of which I'm interested to learn more about.

Anyway,  I'm definitely keeping my options open :)
I just want my friends to know that as much as you might turn your nose up at the negative portrayal of an SQ girl, I hope that you will support me if need be.

Anyway, back to what I'd initially wanted to share :)

Seven important women in my life whom I want to meet badly when I'm back:

My hairy twin and my little sister

My special girlfriend

Evieeeebaby

My masscomm beauties

And of course, my most beloved Mom, dearest Jie, and J's awesome mom...

On a different note, hoarding your knowledge to yourself doesn't make you any smarter. It is better to share them to increase the likelihood of gained knowledge. Just sayin'. Shouldn't a person of a good nature want the best for their friends?

Yes, I may have one too many strong opinions and a tendency to release my pent-up emotions on my blog. Thanks for reading and even if we don't see things eye to eye, I don't think I'm too difficult a friend to get along with :)

Have a great weekend guys!

Love, Serene
