I'm living my dream everyday.
My Spring Fling :) | Wednesday, October 5, 2011 @ 10:14 AM
If you want to know where your heart is, look at where your mind wanders when you daydream.
Hiiiiii guys!
Hope everyone who is studying in Aussie had a good mid-sem break!
Mine was nothing short of wonderful with Ang's lively presence to fill my days with crazy laughter, friendly banters and gastronomical treats! Thanks for visiting me in Melbourne, Ang ♥
We shared eight days of memories to last us till our next reunion in December. I'm already missing you babe! Come to think of it, I'm really blessed to have a handful of visitors from home this year.
Ang brought over many yummy snacks for me when she arrived from Brisbane and left behind more goodies before she left. Say yaaaaaaaay! :) I am blessed to have such an appreciative friend. I strongly believe that good friends do not take each other for granted. It makes sense to take turns to be on the receiving end in a friendship.

How many of you have tried Hershey's mint truffle kisses before?!
I never knew of its existence until Ang gave a packet to me :) Meet Ang, my sillypea who brought me yummy snacks that were manufactured in USA (Hershey's) and Japan (Meiji) after travelling in NZ and Brisbane. I'm not complaining though! (XY, you should try this while you're in USA now!)

Hehe, here's a hugeass packet of chocolate chip cookies!!! It's the size of a regular packet of chips.
My tummy did a victory dance after I devoured it completely.
Ang hid it in a corner of my room before she left but a little bird told me about this hidden treasure :) The cookies accompanied me through a stressful Sunday night, which saw me struggling to complete my Japanese assignment at the eleventh hour :p So glad it's over!

Gonna attempt to document Ang's returning visit to Melbourne with a heavy input of photographs, coupled together with my personal commentaries :D
Ang arrived in Melbourne on a Saturday afternoon.
On her own accord, she saved for me half a bottle of mixed fruit juice that was served on her flight! How cute of her. After picking her up, we had our first "run" together when we ran for the train. Ang ran for the train while lugging her 20kg luggage! Can somebody say IRON WOMAN? To think I was struggling with her 9kg hand-carry baggage. Without Chewy's presence, I become stronger (yes literally).
The first of many photos that we took together after over half a year of separation :)
Ang has such mesmerizing peepers...

For her first meal, I brought her to meet a few of my Singaporean friends in Melb: Bernice, Gary, Kai, and Eric. Eric suggested having dinner at Silk Road, which is a Chinese-Korean fusion restaurant that is located across the road from Carnegie train station.
We girls love to pose for the camera with anything that is within our reach. You name it, we've probably done it! Chopsticks, fork, spoon, tea cup, serviette, menu, and salt and pepper shakers... Hahaha, we're all guilty as charged. May this remain a mystery to every alpha male lurking out there...

Spicy seafood soup...
No, make that a hella spicy seafood soup, which didn't sit too well with my chilli-loving taste buds :(

All hail the glorious fried rice!
If I didn't remember wrongly, it's item number 37 on the menu :]
It tasted really delicious after the rice was mixed in with the gravy!

Jap chae!!! Oily strands of gastro satisfaction.

I usually avoid eating fried chicken because I don't fancy its dry texture and I find it cumbersome to eat meat that is attached to a lot of bones (Read: chicken wings). However, I can't resist Korean fried chicken! Love how its texture is nowhere near dry nor soggy!!! On a scale of one to ten, this is definitely a TEN POINTER.
Apparently, this arm-folding pose works better than protein shakes! Chest out, biceps flexed... Looking macho is now as easy as ABC.

Kai was under-dressed for Springter! D:
Uncle Eric's loyalty cards...

:D
Neo, Ang was wearing the winter trench coat that you guys bought for me! :)

This scene belongs to a horror movie!

After dinner, we headed to the city for Eric's favourite froyo from Cacao Green!
It's actually a franchise of RED MANGO!!! They share the exact same logo :)

I HEREBY DECLARE CACAO GREEN AS WINNER OF THE BEST GREEN TEA FROYO AWARD.

We woke up bright and early on Sunday morning to visit Camberwell flea. I brought my Japanese friend, Saki, along with us :) It was Saki's virgin experience at the flea market and Ang's second visit in three years!

Queuing up for breakfast!
Following what every visitor to Melbourne's camberwell flea market does, Ang filled her tummy with some sugary love, while I stole several bites off her donuts :]
After the flea ended, we caught a train to Lilydale...
We travelled all the way to the final stop of the train line just to visit the famous Tesselaar Tulip Festival, which happens only once a year in Melbourne during Spring!

Coincidentally, it was the Dutch weekend when we visited! We spent awhile sampling food and people-watching. There were people dancing along to traditional Dutch music too!

Caught on camera: This little boy was waving at this girl before he alighted from the wagon! Besides admiring beautiful flowers, I had a good time admiring the carefree ways of young children who were present. So, so, so, so adorable!

We failed to heed this advice :/

Pick your favourite kid!
Tonnes of love for kids who gamely posed for my camera :)
Love the colourful details on her white dress :)
This candid shot of her laughing is one of my favourite shots :

My mom, who is a flower lover, will be very pleased to develop pictures of the tulips that I captured on camera! Can't wait to show her these pictures after I return :)
As these pictures speak a thousand words...
Ang is responsible for the demise of this purple tulip! She broke it with her not-so-delicate touch.

If roses are the quintessential symbol of love and romance, do tulips then symbolise friendship?
Glad to have found a silly and fun-loving friend in you :)
It was a good day to be outdoors :)

Let's grow old together, Ang!
My first photo opportunity with a windmill!

Tulips come in so many colours and variations! ♥

My Rubi shades cost me five bucks.
I'm not the kind who will invest in a good pair of shades because I firmly believe that they won't stay with me forever. Like my funky heart-shaped shades that was lost in the sand dunes in Sydney, and J's Ray Ban that he dropped while he was horse-riding, it's only a matter of time before I lose this pair of shades. Haha, what a realistic pessimistic point of view. Moral of the story: Don't invest your hopes in something that will not be by your side forever. This applies to the people around you too. Haha, sidetracking expert alert.

Ang is anything but a wallflower :)
Sneaky me :D
This shot was captured on my iPhone! I know that everyone is stoked about the launch of the latest iPhone4S. I can't wait to get my hands on it too :) After using my iPhone3 for nearly two years, I think it's a good time for a change when I return to my new life in Singapore :)

Ang looking her usual gorgeous self :)
A rare hybrid of tulip?
I dedicate this photo to you, Miss Liow Qixin! ♥
This little girl allowed me to snap two shots of her and posed patiently for my camera :)
I dedicate this shot to my HBF who is turning 22 in three days' time ♥♥♥
This wood-carving machine was operated through his cycling motion as he carved out lovely, wooden tulip ornaments. Pretty cool...
I was adamant about having Dutch food since it was the Dutch weekend at the festival!!!

So this sums up the first two days of Ang's visit to Melb :)
I can't be any happier that the first week of October is almost over! Every day brings me a little closer to J's embrace. I'm pretty sure that the last quarter of 2011 can only get better :) One-and-a-half months to the TIME OF MY LIFE! 20 hours of classes, a few assignments, quizzes and two exams to clear/ace in, before I reach a new milestone in life, which will probably be my proudest to date.
Although it's hard to look good in an overflowing drape, I'm rather excited to wear the graduation robe. I've never worn a graduation robe before because I was absent during my poly graduation ceremony. J & I were in the Land of Kimchi then!
Honestly, I'm not bothered by the fact that working is gonna be a lot tougher than studying. I'm more excited about the future and achieving new milestones in life with the person who I wanna grow old with, and with my loved ones around to witness my milestones :)
It's true that when you've found that special someone whom you can rely on, you'll be filled with hopes and dreams for the future.
Looking forward to our second beach holiday together :)
From now till then, I gotta invest more time in exercising! I'm determined not to show up at Surfers Paradise looking every inch of a fat blob, though I think it's highly likely that my exercising efforts will be undermined because of all the nice brunch places that I wanna visit in Perth!

Have a blessed week ahead guys! :)
