Best Japanese Food in Melbourne! | Friday, December 9, 2011 @ 6:57 PM

 Hiiiiiii guys!

Today, J and I headed to Glen Waverly for the best Japanese cuisine in Melbourne!!!
I've been meaning to bring him to Shira Nui for the longest time :) Besides, J was bored stiff playing his games at home while I busied myself with packing and cleaning chores :/

I wore out my new pair of embroidered shorts from Chic a Booti out! It's the only piece of clothing that I bought in GC besides all the memorabilia from Movie World! It's difficult to shop when your companion hates shopping...Shopping is the equivalent of gaming from J's point of view :(

Anyway, I can't wait to shop with you girls back home! Also, I really miss sussing out the online shopping scene back home. It's about time to compile a bookmark tab for all my favourite blogshops in Singapore :)

 SHIRA NUI
247 Springvale Road  Glen Waverley VIC 3150

Although it's my second time dining here, I daresay their version of Chawanmushi is the best I've ever had in my soon-to-be 22 years of existence!!! J enjoyed it tremendously too :)

Their lunch special set menu gives you a real bang for your bucks! For $18, you get a main course with a few side dishes (rice, chawanmushi, miso soup, pickles, pasta, and a dish that I couldn't make out).

We shared three set lunches between us because J was really enjoying the first two main courses and couldn't resist another main course.
 私の彼は豚だよ!!!

Beef Tataki
The beef was seared on the outside and left raw on the inside. I didn't like it because I don't fancy eating raw beef. It reminded me of the same dish at Watami, which J happily devoured while I sulked away. Likewise, he was a delighted glutton today...

Oh, their salad is really refreshing and prepared on the spot by the chef (boss) himself, who is a native Japanese! We were in for a visual treat when he brought out a hugeass salmon fish to the counter and knifed through it skillfully before de-boning it.

This sashimi dish was what I had a little over a year ago and true to my prediction, the glutton of a boyfriend was savouring it heartily!

This nigiri dish did not pale in comparison to the previous dish! :)

We left the restaurant sooo stuffed and satisfied :)

Everybody who will be returning to Melbourne next year, be sure to visit Shira Nui when you're craving for Jap cuisine!!! Authenticity at its best.

We the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people...
We are so Singaporean :)

At this time tomorrow, I'd have reunited with my Dad and sister! :)
There are just too many reasons to love December!!! This month will be marked by many sweet reunions, wanderlust, girly times, and most importantly, the end of this chapter of my life. Also, I'll be turning 22 in two weeks' time and X'mas beckons! :D :D :D

I'm so stoked!!!
2011 is drawing close to an end!
Enjoy the final three weeks of the year guys!

Love, Serene
